After Hours: Goblins & Glazes

Well met, adventurer! Stay a while and listen! An evening of art and (<i>rules lite</i>) adventure await us. Guests will paint pottery while playing heroes of yore as they save villagers, vanquish monsters, and recover fabulous riches, or get incapacitated trying (<i>the heroes, not the guests</i>).<div><div><br></div><div><b>Story</b>: "<i>The heroes have grown up in a small barony on the outskirts of the kingdom. While the dangers of the world (goblins and monsters) have never been eradicated, they were kept at bay by the presence of the crown’s power. So long as the baron’s men patrolled the eastern valleys, the vile things that called the dark places their home stayed in their dark places where they belonged... but that was before the usurper war.</i></div><div><i>The details of the impetus of the conflict between the crown and the treasonous nephew are far removed from the distant border town. Please feel free to bring food/drinks, but no oily/greasy foods (<i>it's bad for bisque</i>). Alcoholic beverages will require a waiver.</div><div><br></div><div><b>Questions &amp; Answers:</b></div><div>1) "So what&nbsp;exactly&nbsp;are we playing?"</div><div>This game will be based on the Dungeons &amp; Dragons open license. It will be d20, have classes, stat blocks, dice, etc., but it will also be "rules lite". Players will be choosing from customizable premade "stat blocks", with rules on paper that will tell you everything you need to play. Everything you will need to play will be provided by Imagine Studios.</div><div><br></div><div>2) "What does rules lite mean?"</div><div>It means you don't have to have played table-top games before to join. You don't even have to own any rulebooks to play. Mostly, we're going to be having fun and playing for the laughs and the experience, while we paint.</div><div><br></div><div>3) "How much of a commitment are we talking?"</div><div>Though we are absolutely open to the idea of a full on "campaign", for now the plan is a fun "one-shot" adventure to introduce players to the flow of play. If everything goes well, we'll set up another one in a month.</div><div><div><br></div><div>4) "Will I have to bring anything?"</div></div><div>Dice if you have some. Probably something to write with is a good idea, too, but these will also be provided.</div><div><br></div><div>5) "How will I get the rules?"</div><div>You will receive a page with your character's stat block, including all the basic rules for play, via e-mail before the game. You can "fill in the blanks" to make the character your own.</div><div><br></div><div>6) "Wait! What are these characters you keep talking about?"</div><div>They are the hero you will be playing. We're planning on a group of up to 8 players, each playing their own hero. We'll need a good mix of characters to make sure the heroes have a chance of succeeding.</div><div><br></div><div>The 6 character types:</div><div>The Warrior. A tough and dangerous combatant.</div><div>The Defender. A stalwart and perceptive guardian.</div><div>The Bard. A charismatic and nimble champion of the pub.</div><div>The Rogue. A deadly and stealthy troublemaker.</div><div>The Wizard. A intelligent and perceptive student of the arcane.</div><div>The Priest. A wise and social scholar of the ancient world.</div></div><div><br></div><div>7) What if we don't get to the 5 player minimum?</div><div>The game will be postponed! We will adventure, but this is more fun with more people.</div>
