Business Overview

We're Sew Creative is a high energy, fun sewing and fabric shop. We would to think you come in a stranger and leave as family. Customer Service is very important to us - we want you to enjoy your visit with us! Jennifer Roycroft - owner, learned to sew at a young age from my mother and grandmother as well as learned how to knit and crochet at age 6 from my Great Aunt Anna. I thought everyone knew how to sew. Boy was I surprised! I love anything that relates to sewing and creativity and enjoy meeting new people who come into the shop each day. As I child I was painfully shy, but have overcome that and now am accused of talking too much. I was raised in Raleigh by a single Mom and am the oldest of three (one brother and one sister). I am married to Rick and we have lived in the Charlotte area since 1987. We have two grown boys, Caison and Preston. If you have any questions about the shop, please feel free to contact me! Pete Wade - owner, has been a Service Technician since 1996 and has worked with six different dealers as a contract service technician. Pete became involved with the sewing machine world in the 90's when he worked for one of the best dealers in the country, Bernina Says Sew. "I pretty much cut my teeth on the industry during that period, which has helped me along the way to experience, learn, and do far more than I ever imagined." During that time period Pete has been trained by several different machine manufactures and has completed Sales and Technical Training on the Baby Lock Product line. Pete also has a great deal of experience with all brands of machines. Pete will be working out of We're Sew Creative on Mondays and Wednesdays, so if you need a quick fix or you are having trouble with your machine, bring it in and he will provide you the professional experience that you trust and expect out of your dealer. Pete has been married to Alicia for 25 years, they have two sons, Chris, and Aaron. Pete enjoys cycling, golfing, soccer, and coaching. Carol Davis - is an inspired long arm quilter. She started sewing as a child with her mother and grandmother. Over the years she has become a class junkie, learning tips and techniques from "The Greats". Some of her favorite things to do are hand appliqu� and hand embroidery. Carol and her husband, Edward, are empty nesters, so she spends her time happily doing what she loves, quilting, and adding to her fabric stash. Nikki Jackson - I was born in Norwich, England and raised in both England and Germany. I am blessed to be married to the love of my life & best friend for 28 years. Forrest being in the Air Force afforded us the opportunity to travel the world moving every 2 � years. I have worked in various administrative positions over the years as well as a Teacher Assistant in Yorktown, Virginia. I also enjoyed volunteering in my children's schools. God blessed me with two amazing daughters. We have two daughters Rachel and Rebekah. I feel very fortunate to be working at We're Sew Creative. I am responsible for the administrative needs at the shop and have recently learned to sew!! More importantly I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer on March 27, 2009. God got me through that & I praise Him every day I wake up & get to work in such a happy environment with such a fun group of ladies....(& Pete). Deanna Johnson - I was born in Canada many years ago. Due to many moves, I have learned to bloom where planted. Home is where my stuff is located. I was married to the same person for 23 years but alas that went to the side of the road in the nineties. Since then I have been on my own, free to do what pleases me. After putting a daughter through college and a son through dive school I started saving for retirement. I worked for AT&T for 24 years and decided to retire in 2008 to move near my daughter in Charlotte, NC. I have four grandchildren that I love dearly. I learned to embroider in the fifties and sixties and have never looked back. Sewing, quilting, and embroidery keep me busy and happy. I can't remember a time when I didn't have a needlework project with me. I am totally hooked. I started at We're Sew Creative by making shop samples and after a bit it seemed right to accept a part time job there. I just love working there, it brings me joy. The people that I work and deal with everyday are just great and give so much to me. I feel very grateful for the time I spend with our customers. They are by and large a wonderful group and I am very lucky to enjoy their company. Barbara Kaylor - grew up watching my mother sew and that encouraged me to start sewing at a very young age. I started out making clothes for my Barbie dolls. As I out grew my Barbie dolls, I also out grew my desire to sew. It wasn't until I was watching Simply Quilts much later in life that I started to think that I might like to get into making quilts. Upon looking for a new sewing machine, I was introduced to a machine that included embroidery. At first I though that I didn't know what I would embroider. I had a very young granddaughter at the time and I though that maybe I could embroider her some things so I decided to go ahead with the embroidery/sewing machine. That's when I began a major passion for embroidery. My passion for sewing grew and I started taking classes of all types. I have been to Martha Pullen School of Arts Fashion quite a few times and learned a lot of heirloom sewing, embroidery, as well as working with the serger. I am also a Martha Pullen Serger Licensed Instructor as well as a Licensed Jenny Haskins Instructor. I love learning new techniques as well as teaching others what I have learned. Machines today are amazing with all the feet and accessories available that make sewing all that much more fun and enjoyable. I have met a lot of great people through my years of sewing and I look forward to meeting each of you. Sharon Manning - Began sewing as a young child with the love and guidance of my grandmother. I became proficient enough that in high school I was accused by my home economics teacher of "having someone else construct my garment". Used my mother's machine until the early 90's, when we moved out of state. I decided to buy a sewing machine and take classes as a way to meet people and fill my time. This is how I learned to quilt and then, having moved back to Charlotte in the mid-90's, I took a home decor sewing class at CPCC and did window treatments as a home-based business for a while. So I consider myself a "jack-of-all-sewing trades, master of none". My mother called to ask how my first day at WSC went back last February and my response to her was "I now know how much I DON"T KNOW about sewing!". My challenge to myself at WSC is to become more knowledgeable about the products and the processes we offer, and I may even gather up the courage to try some "EMBROADERY" as those of us who don't know how fondly refer to it! Melissa Reeves - Grew up in Scottsboro, Alabama with four brothers, and of course, Mom and Dad. At one point, we lived next door to my great grand mother (For a long time I thought she was my grandmother) she and others came to our house to quilt. There was a frame in the ceiling (at least that's what I think) and I watched them. Maybe I tried to help. I began sewing around 9 or 10 years of age. Would cut up whatever I got my hands on to make doll clothes. My parents had Santa to bring me a sewing machine (a real one). Did not know how to thread it up, my mom did not sew. Olivia, a classmate, taught me how to thread it. Attended Alabama A & M University, received a BS Degree in Home Economics Education minor Child Development. I made clothing for myself and sewed for my Home EC teacher in high school. I enjoy all kinds of sewing. Started working in retail the year my son graduated from high school. The store "Bernina Says Sew", was located on Kings Drive, and worked only on Saturday, also worked for Charlotte-Meck Schools. Retired in 2008, and began working part-time. I have two children, Jolin and Scott. Two grandchildren, Carlin and Lawson. I've sewn for them also. Read more
