Teapot Workshop-- An Advanced Pottery Wheel Project

A good functional teapot can be mass produced, but this ancient and diverse ware of daily life--when made by hand-- can elevate a moment from mundane to purposeful and satisfying in ritual.&nbsp;<div><br></div><div>The handmade teapot can be expressive, featuring elements of design that differentiate it from factory-made vessels.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>We will be considering everyday use and aesthetic when we discuss the relationship between body, foot, handle, spout, gallery, and lid. Our focus will on designing teapots that work well, are durable, and look good serving for their intended purpose.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Everything except the handle will be thrown on the Potter's Wheel. Thus, this class is an ADVANCED WHEEL CLASS. You must have proficient centering and pulling skills.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Your instructor will help you fine-tune shapes and guide you through how to create the other parts of your teapot.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Time permitting you will make two teacups with your pot and we would love to have a tea pouring party when they are all complete!</div>
