Printing on Clay: Make a Hanging Planter

Sparrow Collective

In this workshop, students will create their own planter using basic pinching techniques. They will then personalize their planter using monotype process which involves drawing and painting on paper and transferring designs onto the clay. Tips, tricks and ideas for design decisions will be discussed. All materials needed to create a planter will be included (except for the plant). Students are encouraged to come with any images, sketches, or pattern inspiration that they might like to use on their planters. No art experience is necessary, all are welcome! What is a monotype? A monotype is a print that is created by drawing or painting on a surface and transferring it to paper (or in our case, clay). It results in a completely unique print each time! The planters will be fired and glazed for you and finished planters can be picked up 2 weeks after the class. This class will be taught by Geryn Roche of GerWare Ceramics
