Printing on Clay: Handmade Earrings & Pendant: Dec 3

Sparrow Collective

Explore the basics of making ceramic jewelry and create your own series of handmade earrings and pendants! Each student will receive a slab of terracotta clay to play around with printing using a monotype printing process. Tips, tricks and ideas for design decisions will be discussed. All materials needed to create several sets of earrings and multiple pendants will be discussed - great for yourself and gifts! Students will choose from a selection of findings for their earrings and leather cord to turn the pendants into necklaces. Students are encouraged to come with any images, sketches, or pattern inspiration that they might like to use on their jewelry. No art experience is necessary, all are welcome! What is a monotype? A monotype is a print that is created by drawing or painting on a surface and transferring it to paper (or in our case, clay). It results in a completely unique print each time! The earrings and pendants will be fired and glazed for you, and finished pieces can be picked up 2 weeks after the class. This class will be taught by Geryn Roche of GerWare Ceramics.
