After discovering pottery in high school in the mid 70's I spent several years working as apprentice to various production potters across the United States. I discovered wood firing early in my career and have been producing wood fired pottery and building kilns every since. My pottery influences are worldwide. I especially influenced by Japanese, Korean, British and early American crock potters. From historical to contemporary, I am attracted to pottery that has a folk art look and feel. In 2010, after spending 28 years as the owner of Monocacy Pottery in Maryland, I made the decision to relocate to Ohio and open Manabigama Pottery Center with my friend and partner Tiffany Hyland. My creativity and passion has truly been renewed by the challenges involved in building a whole new studio and introducing my work to a new audience.Read more
