About GSVA: The Granville Studio of Visual Arts, founded in 2008, is a non-profit art and education organization with studios and gallery located on the Bryn Du Mansion campus in Granville, Ohio. We provide after school classes for kids K-12, workshops, in-school arts integration, and public events and experiences. Four things make us unique.We develop our classes of curriculum for progressive learning. We are staffed by professional educators, artists, and researchers. We collaborate with educational institutions, teachers, artists, and parties.We are focused on integrating arts in education to create breakthrough education experiences. What that means is our students gain experiences that change how they perceive themselves, how they engage their peers, and how they interact with the world around them.Students benefit from our programs by gaining confidence, learning skills, teamwork and leadership, and subject comprehension in an inclusive environment. They mature by believing in themselves, having the courage to dream, and becoming productive doers. But the real benefit is parents giving their sons and daughters an advantage in learning that inspires and empowers. Our Mission:To provide extraordinary creative thinking education and to foster creative courage in all people. What We Believe: We believe that every human being is a uniquely creative individual. And each individual�through sustained, careful guidance in a supportive, creative environment�is capable of becoming an innovative thinker and doer. We believe that creative courage is the indispensible foundation of all innovations. At GSVA we welcome, embrace and nurture every person's creative self-esteem, vision, thinking and skills. Above all, we are committed to helping people of all ages and backgrounds lead artful, creative, and fulfilling lives. Our programs build creative self-esteem, problem-solving skills, self-discipline and cultural awareness. We serve students of all ages, from preschoolers to senior citizens, and reach out to students of all socio-economic backgrounds. GSVA's curricula combine studio art activities, art history and art theory instruction. We encourage teamwork and communication skills by teaching students how to design group exhibitions of their own work. The exhibitions, designed and installed in a professional gallery setting, celebrate all students' unique creative visions. How It All Started: GSVA was founded by two friends, Kerry and Annie, with passionate hearts and a magnificent purpose - to move creativity from the fringes of education to the center where it deserves to be.As new mothers with career experience in the arts, we believed that shoving art and creative development to the corners of education would likely be the greatest educational misstep of our time. We were not going to sit on the sidelines, so we chose to defy the odds, create a non-profit dedicated to creativity and begin to change the role that creativity plays in K-12 education. From our kitchen tables in Granville, Ohio, we embraced our passion, sense of purpose and set out to turn our lofty idea of GSVA into a reality in camp 2006. With no money, a colossal mission and a belief in the possibilities of change, we built our collaborative teams and got to work.
