Business Overview

All About Yarn is in its 10 th year of business and my name is Roxanne, the proud owner of our Coon Rapids-based shoppe. Most people call me Rox at the shop and when you come for a visit and check us out I think you'll find an exceptionally friendly, warm and helpful environment. We have a beautiful fireplace setting in the center of the shop where classes are held nightly and fiber enthusiasts like yourself can sit and enjoy. My staff and I love new knitters as it seems like just �yesterday we were beginning as well. I learned how to knit a mere nine months before the shop opened� There was a group of us back then all learning together as we entered our empty nester stage of life. You know, we were those traveling parents, who followed their kids around in sports for a living, hehe!�Suddenly,�however, our kids grew up and the traveling ended and we were confronted with the question: "What were we to do with all the new time on our hands?" Well, we learned to knit and immediately became obsessed. We started traveling around to specialty yarn shops and discovered in the north suburban area there was a definite need for a yarn shop, hence the birth of "All About Yarn." In the beginning there were four of us, who opened the shop, each of whom brought something different to the table and to our customers. But after six years together, a pending retirement up north for one partner, hard economic times and a new long term lease awaiting, change was in the air. With the support of my family and friends I decided to keep "All About Yarn" going. As a new owner one of my goals was to bring in new yarns to enhance our selection of specialty yarns and I think the shop's selection of Madelinetosh and Malabrigo is second to none. I'm always on the look out for new yarn, supplies and fun accessories to add. Another highlight of the shop are the classes we offer, specifically our very unique "Pick your own Project" classes which take place each day (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and (6 p.m. to 8 p.m.) as well as Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon. Each class is a mini social group in which many long term friendships have been developed. Whether you become a new member or have been coming for years, teaching help is provided on as many projects as you desire. We call Friday's "Friendship Friday" and from 2-5 pm you'll find lots of ladies sitting around the fireplace or at the large table sharing life stories and their projects too�come join them and make new friends.
